Good morning, Acidolac capsules contain a strain of Bifidobacterium animalis ssp. lactis BIFOLACT 12. There are studies that indicate the effectiveness of this strain in relieving antibiotic diarrhea, acute infectious diarrhea, functional constipation, or irritable bowel syndrome (so-called IBS). There are no specific guidelines for the duration of use of one probiotic. The second probiotic strain tested with proven effects in IBS is the Lactobacillus plantarum strain (Lp299v), which is found in Sanprobi IBS. In this case, it is worth, for example, to change one preparation to another every month. This allows you to see which strain of probiotic bacteria is more beneficial, as each patient's response is individual. For my part, I pay attention not to drink probiotic preparations with hot or frozen liquids, as this may negatively affect the viability of these bacteria. In addition, bearing in mind the latest guidelines for the treatment of IBS, it is believed that sodium butyrate is a more effective preparation in the treatment of this disease compared to probiotic bacteria.
