Dienogest - substancja czynna leku Zafrilla, jak i escitalopram są substratami cytochromu P450 CYP3A4 w wątrobie, czyli oba są metabolizowane przez ten enzym. Konkurencja taka może doprowadzić do tego, że stężenie jednego z leków może utrzymywać się w krwi dłużej niż powinno.
W tym wypadku należy poinformować lekarza o przyjmowaniu obu leków, aczkolwiek rozdzielenie ich przyjmowania w czasie jest bardzo dobrym rozwiązaniem, aby uniknąć ryzyka wspomnianej interakcji.
