Escitalopram (Oroes), which is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), is primarily used to treat depression and anxiety. However, some SSRIs, including escitalopram, are sometimes prescribed off-label to treat premature ejaculation. SSRIs can delay ejaculation because they increase serotonin levels in the brain, which affects the delay in ejaculation.
Research and clinical experience suggest that escitalopram may be effective in the treatment of premature ejaculation, but this is not its primary indication. However, it is worth noting that the use of escitalopram for this purpose should be supervised by a physician who will evaluate the potential benefits and risks, including possible side effects.
