I feel palpitations when reducing my dose of Escitalopram - is this normal?

After taking escitalopram for about 6 months, as the dose was gradually reduced, I began to have heart rhythm disorders that I did not have before. I resumed the treatment and they disappeared only to reappear when the dose decreased.

These symptoms may be accompanied by a reduction in the dose. Patients quite often experience symptoms such as tremors, palpitations, confusion, anxiety when discontinuing antidepressants. Heart tests may be performed (Escitalopram can cause changes in rhythm), but usually the problem is related to changing the therapeutic dose. If the ailments are bothersome, I encourage you to consult your doctor about the possibility of taking medication to alleviate the described symptoms. Perhaps the process of reducing the dose should be longer. Usually, these types of side effects disappear on their own after about 10-14 days.
