Osteogenon is a preparation containing a complex of ossein and hydroxyapatite, these are organic substances of the bone matrix together with hydroxyapatite microcrystals, in which calcium and phosphorus are present in a physiological, balanced proportion. Studies show that the absorption of calcium from Osteogenon is more effective than other calcium salts.
Bisphosphonates (alendronic acid), due to their chemical structure, have a strong affinity for hydroxyapatite crystals in bone tissue and the ability to bind to calcium ions. I suspect that because of this effect, alendronate has been added to the Osteogenon therapy.
