Head lice (also known as pediculosis) is a parasitic disease caused by arthropods called lice, which feed on human blood. The most common form of head lice is head lice, especially affecting preschool and early school children. There are also pubic lice (occurring primarily in adults) and clothing lice (observed in people who extremely neglect personal hygiene). In order to get rid of parasites and prevent lice infection, topical preparations available in pharmacies, e.g. shampoos, lotions, gels and sprays, are used. When using them, it is important to use special, dense combs (designed to comb out dead lice and nits), which are often included in lice control kits. There are also products available on the market to help prevent head lice, such as special hair elastics or sprays.
