Hello, I have been suffering from anxiety for more than a decade and recently a few years ago a specialized psychotherapist diagnosed me with ADHD.
Years ago for anxiety I tried several SSRIs, including paroxetine and they made my symptoms worse and you had a lot of side effects.
Now a new psychiatrist has prescribed me Gabapentin 100mg, which I have been taking 3 times a day for about 4 days. But apart from sleeping better, I didn't have any improvement in my anxiety, in fact it got worse. Maybe also due to the fact that I am afraid of drugs and taking these pills gives me a lot of apprehension .
In addition to these I was prescribed Wellbutrin 159mg, for ADHD, the psychiatrist said it could worsen the anxiety but it is not said. But I didn't take it out of fear.
What are your thoughts on Wellbutrin? Is it really that dangerous and could even lead me to have panic attacks?
Does the fact that gabapentin has no effect on anxiety mean that it is not the drug for me? Also, why does the GP refuse to prescribe it, telling me that it is not a medication for anxiety and does not want to take responsibility? Thank you
