Can sodium butyrate be taken prophylactically with diverticulosis of the large intestine found during colonoscopy?

Can sodium butyrate be taken prophylactically with colon diverticulosis found during colonoscopy? Colonoscopy was performed prophylactically (cancer in one of the parents). I would like to add that many years earlier I was diagnosed with irritable bowel. The improvement came after dusoatalinie retard and I did not receive any treatment afterwards.
