Diuresin SR and Avasart are drugs from different chemical groups - they contain different substances with a different pharmacological activity profile and cannot be directly compared. The action of Diuresin (Indapamide) is based on its diuretic properties - it causes increased excretion of water from the body and thus reduces blood pressure. In addition, it has a vasodilating effect and reduces vascular resistance, which also contributes to reducing pressure values. The most common signs of side effects include hypokalaemia (decreased potassium) and hyponatraemia (decreased sodium in the body), symptoms of dehydration and orthostatic disorders (tinnitus and dizziness during a sudden change in body position, e.g. from lying down to standing). Avasart, the active substance of which is valsartan, belongs to a group of medicines called angiotensin II receptor antagonists = sartans. The effect of reducing blood pressure occurs as a result of relaxation of blood vessels and a decrease in the secretion of aldosterone - the substance responsible for the increase in pressure values. The most common side effects include orthostatic disorders, weakness, fatigue. Which drug and from which chemical group will be used is the targeted degree of hypertension, the cause of its occurrence (if known) and the condition of the patient's body, as well as the individual response of the patient to the proposed treatment. If the drug does not give the desired effect and / or causes a deterioration in the comfort of life, the doctor may change it to a preparation from another group, so as to obtain the desired therapeutic effect. Please remember that each drug or supplement used has an impact on the whole body. However, the measurable benefits of the therapeutic effect should be taken into account in relation to possible, but most often rare, side effects. During hypertension therapy, self-control is very important - it is worth taking pressure measurements every day at fixed times, and show the recorded results to the doctor during the follow-up visit. Pressure should also be measured at the time of deterioration of well-being or other disturbing symptoms. If in doubt, I also encourage you to talk to your doctor about your concerns about the use of the drug. We write more extensively about hypertension in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/nadcisnienie I encourage you to read!
