Alantan Plus contains allantoin and dexpanthenol. It can be used on the intimate organs, however, it has no antibacterial effect and will not cure the infection. It can be used as an adjuvant, relieving symptoms of infection, such as itching and burning. Allantoin exfoliates and protects the skin, improves its hydration and supports wound healing by stimulating the growth of new tissue. Allantoin, used regularly for hyperkeratosis of the skin, can prevent excessive deposition of keratin (a type of protein). Dexopantenol penetrates deeply into the skin, where it is converted into pantothenic acid. Increased need for pantothenic acid occurs with lesions and various types of skin diseases. Dexopantenol has the ability to bind water, due to which it increases the elasticity of the skin.
