Is the fatigue from Microgynon temporary and does it work well with medicines for epilepsy and depression?

The gynecologist ordered me to use Microgynon for medications for epilepsy and depression (zoloft and symla) after using Cerazette before, due to feeding. For some time I have been constantly tired and sleepy. Is this temporary? Apparently, with the drugs I use, there are no better contraceptive pills that work well together. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Due to the fact that fatigue is a non-specific symptom, and you may have at least several different causes, it is difficult to answer whether this is a temporary condition in your case. Hormonal contraception may cause mood deterioration or fatigue in some patients. Feeling tired is also a possible common side effect of Symla and a possible very common side effect of Zoloft. Feeling chronically tired can also be one of the symptoms of depression. Your entry shows that you have a small child - fatigue may also result from too little, actual amount of sleep during the day, associated with the need to care for a toddler. You can read more about this below: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-i-dlaczego-zglaszac-dzialania-niepozadane https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/nasze-sposoby-na-zmeczenie Your post also shows that you are interested in the issue of combined use of medicines. I do not find information about the negative effects of drugs Microgynon and Zoloft. However, it is believed that there may be interactions between lamotrigine from Symla and contraception - a mutual interaction affecting the effectiveness of therapy. Oestrogens such as ethinylestradiol are part of Microgynon are thought to reduce the effects of lamotrigine by affecting liver metabolism. The dose may need to be adjusted both when starting and after oestrogen therapy. Non-standard dosing of birth control pills may also be recommended in patients treated with lamotrigine to avoid fluctuations in blood oestrogen levels and thus lamotrigine levels. The interaction between Symla and the contraceptive pill is included and described in the documentation of this medicine: 'If you are using hormonal contraceptives such as the contraceptive pill, your doctor may ask you to carry out tests to check the levels of Symla in your blood'. In general, however, in epileptic patients using hormonal contraception, the use of lamotrigine is considered a safe option after taking into account the above reservations. On the other hand, the effect of lamotrigine on the effectiveness of the hormonal action of estrogens from the contraceptive pill cannot be completely excluded. Although this effect is uncertain, it is recommended to use an alternative, non-hormonal method of contraception, such as condoms. The recommendations in the registered documentation of Symla are: "Symla may also affect the way hormonal contraceptives work, although it is unlikely to reduce their effectiveness. If you are using hormonal contraceptives and notice any changes in your menstrual cycle, such as bleeding or spotting between menstrual periods, tell your doctor. Such symptoms may indicate that Symla has an effect on the contraceptive effect.'
