Hello. When taking birth control pills or any other methods of hormonal contraception, can I take antidepressants at the same time?of course, at different times, e.g. contraceptive in the morning and other drugs in the evening. Does it just depend on what drugs will be matched to each other and is it simply possible to take them together? I will add that now I take Daylette contraceptive pills, can the doctor choose pills for these anti pills? Best regards

The negative effect of the most commonly used antidepressants on the effectiveness of hormonal contraception has not been proven. Of course, your doctor can prescribe antidepressants that can be used together with contraception. Perhaps Daylette hormonal contraception itself causes you depressive states and you will need to change your hormonal medications. However, it is the doctor who must consider the possible cause of depression in you. If you are concerned about your health, you will need to see a specialist. We wrote more about what drugs weaken the effectiveness of contraception in the text: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jakie-leki-oslabiaja-skutecznosc-antykoncepcji We wrote about depression here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/depresja
And if you can combine the two pills, will the contraceptive allow antidepressants to work enough to help you feel good?
