Can I stop Xanax SR 0.5mg after two weeks right away?

Hello, I have for anxiety disorders to take xanax sr 0.5mg 1 tablet a day for 7-14 days (until I feel that I have returned to normal functioning), however, the psychiatrist did not inform me about any gradual discontinuation of the drug and reading the leaflet and general information about the drug is written that it should be discontinued gradually. It may be that with such a small donor for 14 days there are no contraindications to stop taking overnight?

In your case, you can stop taking Xanax SR 0.5 mg two weeks after starting treatment immediately overnight. All the more so if you have never used similar drugs (sedatives, antidepressants) before. Gradual discontinuation of the drug (dose reduction and use of the interval between doses, e.g. every other day) is necessary at higher doses and longer use, because the daily dose used is often up to 4 mg in an adult. In your case, the chance of withdrawal symptoms is small, so please be concerned. If problems such as increased anxiety, insomnia, agitation, anxiety return, please contact your doctor.
