Can the Cortiment MMX tablet be crushed and is it a replacement for Entocort?
Are Cortiment MMX tablets difficult to swallow? What size are they? Can a patient with dysphagia crush them? Are Cortiment MMX and Etocort tablets replacements?

Although there are budesonide tablets that break down in the mouth, the dose is 1 mg, while Cortiment MMX contains 9 mg of this substance. Thank you. So how can it be made easier for a person with dysphagia to swallow Cortiment MMX? The drug was prescribed by a doctor for eosinophilic esophagitis. Does this medicine come in the form of a suspension or syrup? What would you recommend?

The tablets must not be broken, crushed or chewed as their coating is intended to ensure prolonged release. The tablet is small - with a diameter of about 9.5 mm and a thickness of about 4.7 mm. However, it is difficult to determine whether a person with dysphagia will be able to swallow it. Cortiment, MMX and Entocort contain the same active substance, but they cannot be considered as substitutes. Cortiment MMX comes in the form of prolonged-release tablets and Entocort are prolonged-release capsules. The Entocort capsule should also be swallowed whole.
