I had 3 hypoglycemias using insulin Lantus. Should I continue to take this medicine?

I have been using insulin Lantus solostar since October.. Within 3 months I had hypoglycemia 3 times. My sugar dropped to 50..I called an ambulance. In addition, I take Siofor 1000 three times a day and in the morning diaprel 30 mg... High and very low sugars... I gave up taking insulin and sugars normal. I'm just worried if you can stop this insulin after 3 hypoglycemias permanently. I continue to take diabetic medication

Unfortunately, it is difficult to answer such a question without knowing anything more about your health and, above all, about the results of blood glucose you have every day. Insulin (both prandial and basal - which is Lantus) is unfortunately associated with the risk of hypoglycemia and the patient must definitely measure blood sugar levels more often, predict hypoglycemia and prevent it. Please remember, however, that other medicines may also be associated with the risk of hypoglycaemia and in your case Diaprel is such a drug. How to act in case of hypoglycemia? If we feel unwell and suspect hypoglycemia - we measure the concentration of glucose in the blood with a glucometer. If the result is lower than 70 mg / dl - we consume approx. 15 g of glucose (glucose gel, pressed candies with dextrose, more than half of a small juice in a carton). If after 15 minutes there is no improvement, drink another approx. 15 g of glucose (rule 15/15), etc. First of all, it is worth contacting your doctor in this situation. It is worth for you to measure your sugar level more often with a glucometer for a few days before the visit and analyze your results with your doctor. Perhaps, if insulin treatment is necessary, there will be a chance to give up another lady drug - the risk of hypoglycemia may be lower. Another issue is the issue of other, modern drugs used in diabetes (flozin, analogues-GLP-1), but the doctor should determine whether you can use them. It is worth asking you to tell us about the available options. However, if you return to insulin, talk to your doctor about glucose monitoring systems, such as Freestyle Libre. This is a huge help with insulin treatment.
