Should Fanipos be used in a five-month-old baby or discontinued?

The doctor prescribed Fanipos to a 5-month-old baby for a runny nose. But on the leaflet it is written after 4 years. We have a mixed feeling whether to give such a small child this "dog dog" with the doctor's recommendation 2 times a day each hole, or weaning it ?!

The doctor has the right to prescribe a medicine differently than it is described in the leaflet, which also applies to the patient's age. This is a treatment referred to as off-label: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami Indeed, Fanipos is recommended above 4 years of age, not because it is certainly harmful to younger people, but because the safety and efficacy of Fanipos nasal spray in children below 4 years of age have not been established. Many medicines are not approved for use in the youngest patients because it is a vulnerable population and it is difficult to conduct extensive efficacy and safety studies. However, such children also require treatment, and the doctor, not having a choice of any drug suitable for the infant, may reach for the drug for older children, weighing the benefits and risks based on the child's condition. My point is that we cannot review the therapeutic decision of the doctor who examined the child and advise or advise against the application of a prescription drug. From a pharmaceutical point of view, I can inform you that after intranasal administration of fluticasone (the active ingredient in Fanipos), maximum plasma concentrations in most people were undetectable. This means that the drug is practically not absorbed into the body and systemic absorption (through the nasal mucosa and from the gastrointestinal tract) is negligible. For this reason, the possible side effects are in most cases local. I enclose additional information about the drug Fanipos - prescription products can be reserved at WherePoLek and collected stationary upon presentation of the prescription: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/29165/fanipos-aerozol/apteki/w-warszawie You may also be interested in our study: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/katar-u-dziecka
