Avoid taking St. John's wort preparations with medicines containing venlafaxine and olanzapine. When using St. John's wort preparations with venlafaxine, the risk of potentially life-threatening serotonin syndrome increases. "Symptoms of serotonin syndrome may include changes in mental status (e.g., agitation, hallucinations, coma), autonomic instability (e.g., tachycardia, labile blood pressure, hyperthermia), neuromuscular disorders (e.g., hyperreflexia, lack of coordination of movements), and/or gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., nausea, vomiting, diarrhea)."
