Ciprofloxacin (the active substance in Ciprinol) inhibits the enzyme CYP1A2, so it may increase the plasma concentration of concomitant substances metabolised by this enzyme, e.g. olanzapine (the active substance Zolafrene). In patients who require both medicines, caution should be exercised and symptoms of Zolafrene overdose should be monitored, e.g. agitation, lack of urination, tremor, arrhythmias, sedation. Sometimes when combining Ciprinol with Zolfren, the dose of Zolafrene needs to be adjusted. Zolafren and Ciprinol are prescription medicines and their combined intake should be done on the recommendation of a doctor who has been informed of all medications taken.
