I've been taking dulsevia for a week. For several days I have had large pressure jumps (180/120). Is this normal with this drug and will the pressure normalize after treatment? The doctor said that I have to withstand these 2 weeks .... I have to take lorefam temporarily, but it does not help me too much. Can I take captopril? I am afraid of the consequences of such high pressure ...

Hello. I suffer from hypertension due to severe neurosis and anxiety. My pressure is 190/120 in the morning after getting up. Normally I have about 150/100 despite two medications. When I started taking dulsevie the pressure jumped a lot, but I saved myself nitrendypina because captopril too weak. I recorded the pressure record with a medical blood pressure monitor 250/145 and it is alive. I have had such jumps for several years. When I endured these two weeks, everything began to return to normal, after all, this drug is, among other things, norepinephrine that raises the pressure. You have to persevere. A nice drug because you can easily shoot a few beers and nothing happens. At the wedding after half a liter there was nothing and I have a damaged liver after jaundice. Liver tests approx.

Yes, a medicine containing duloxetine, such as Dulsevia, may increase blood pressure. Therefore, in patients with known hypertension and/or other heart disease, it is recommended to monitor blood pressure more frequently, especially during the first month of treatment. Duloxetine should be used with caution in patients whose condition may worsen due to increased heart rate or blood pressure. In patients with uncontrolled hypertension, duloxetine treatment is not recommended until normalised. These types of situations depend on many factors and your doctor has more data about your health to make a rational decision and analyze all the pros and cons. First of all, you should report to your doctor if you did not have normalized hypertension before treatment. Perhaps you also have high blood pressure without the drug and should use medication for hypertension? Lorazepam (e.g. Lorafen) may reduce blood pressure to some extent, but it is not a drug typically used for hypertension. The use of Captopril is an ad hoc action and will not solve your problem, I do not recommend using the drug without consulting a doctor (if the doctor has not clearly recommended such action). Unfortunately, it is impossible to say anything about the situation based on a single pressure result. First of all, you should take more measurements over several days at different times of the day and record them (time and pressure value). It is worth going to the doctor with such a measurement profile on the next occasion. If symptoms such as headache, nausea and unusual behavior, shortness of breath, chest pain appear - please urgently contact your doctor.
