Atarax, the active substance hydroxyzine, is a drug most often used to treat anxiety disorders. In adults, it is usually a dose of 50 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses. This means that the use of two 25 mg tablets per night is not recommended. The dosage is determined individually for the patient. Atarax should be used at the lowest effective dose and treatment should be as short as possible. Patients very often report excessive drowsiness, fatigue, headaches, problems with concentration during the day after taking the drug. If you experience such side effects and make it difficult to function, you will need to report them to your doctor. Perhaps he will recommend using a lower dose during the day, or change the drug or implement other changes in pharmacotherapy. On my own, I would not recommend using a double dose of the drug in the evening. Side effects of the drug can and even should be reported independently or to your doctor.
