Hello. I've been struggling for the second week with herpes on my lips. One by one. Week by week . I bought Hascovir Control Max 400MG tablets at the pharmacy. The pharmacist recommended (due to the constantly recurring herpes) a dose much higher than in the leaflet. She stated that even a doctor would recommend it. So even 3x a day for 2 tablets, which gives a total dose of 2400mg per day. Isn't that too much? Please reply quickly.

Such high doses of acyclovir (the active ingredient in Hascovir) are used to treat varicella zoster virus infections. For the prevention of recurrence of herpes, the drug should be administered at a dose of 400 mg twice a day, every 12 hours. Without consulting a doctor, such treatment should be continued up to a month of time. The doctor, after conducting a detailed interview, may order an extension of therapy up to a year.
