Good morning. Is the EVLT treatment used only to get rid of varicose veins or can it also be used to treat thrombosis? It's about laser treatment so I suspect that it's about this method. What does such a procedure look like?

Active thromboembolic changes, decompensated blood clotting disorders, hypercoagulability states and blood clots that make it impossible to perform the procedure (including overgrowth of the vein preventing effective implementation of tools) are a contraindication to PERFORMING EVLT (EndoVenous Laser Treatment). Therefore, it is not a method of "treating past thrombosis". Qualification for the procedure is made by the doctor and from him you can find out both whether in your case evlt is possible and whether you will actually perform such a procedure. The EVLT procedure in general involves the introduction of a special catheter into the vein, through which the optical fiber is then carried out. The fiber - when the laser is started - is withdrawn from the vein causing it to close. The exact technique and methodology may vary slightly between centers - as I mentioned - it is best to get first-hand information at the center where you want to remove varicose veins.
