Could Octenisept have permanently damaged the olfactory receptors in the nose?

Good morning three weeks ago I was plucking my nose/sinuses with octenisept in a 1:1 ratio with saline. I went into one hole lying down with my head down. I felt a strong burning sensation and swelling that subsided but not completely after a few days. However, I lost my sense of smell in this hole. I do not feel the taste of dishes. Did this preparation irreversibly damage my olfactory cells? Will they regenerate over time and I will regain the joy of life?

In the event that the swelling does not subside and there is a loss of tastes and smells, I encourage you to consult a doctor. You can also take advantage of the teleadvice offered m.in by the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja Octenisept should probably not permanently damage the olfactory receptors in the nose, because it can also be used on mucous membranes. However, in the case of the nose, it is recommended to use it only in the form of brushing in the front of the nose (so as not to introduce the drug inside the nose, but only to ensure that the front of the nostrils is moistened). Unfortunately, I cannot give you information when your taste and smell will return again, and the swelling will decrease. The use of Octenisept for nasal lavage is used outside the registered indications and is associated with an increased risk of previously undescribed side effects: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/87829/octenisept-aerozol-aerozol/apteki Until consulting a doctor, I encourage you to use preparations available in online pharmacies and stationary preparations supporting the regeneration of nerve cells (m.in responsible for the sensation of smell). Choosing an online pharmacy makes it possible to compare prices, as well as order preparations with home delivery or personal collection at the pharmacy. Preparations supporting the regeneration of nerve cells include, m.in: - Vitaminum B compositum: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/83177/vitaminum-b-compositum-polfa-drazetki/apteki - Uridineox: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/81079/urydynox-kapsulki/apteki - Phosidine plus: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/107154/fosydyna-plus-kapsulki/apteki In addition, you can use preparations regenerating the nasal mucosa, such as: - Rinopantein: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/91271/rinopanteina-aerozol/apteki - Pantherin: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/97681/pantherin-ecto-zel-do-nosa/apteki I encourage you to read additional materials that may be useful: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/skuteczne-sposoby-na-zapalenie-zatok

Hello, it's been a year and three months since I flooded my nose with octenisept. The sense of smell has partially returned, but it is not what it was before the flooding. Some smells are different than I remember, such as the smell of car exhaust, deodorant or poop. I don't smell vinegar at all. The taste of coffee, meat, eggs and anything that contains protein is not very pleasant. The worst thing is that the aroma of the food does not last very long. As you eat, the sense of aroma decreases or disappears altogether, as if your sense of smell is getting tired too quickly. I'm waiting, maybe one day my sense of smell will return in its entirety and the sense of taste will normalize, although I'm slowly losing hope. The damage to my sense of smell took a heavy toll on my psyche, I developed severe depression and insomnia, which continues to this day. I learned about the use of octenisept for sinus irrigation from the publication of my doctoral dissertation. You can find the paper on Google with the title: "The effect of intraoperative antiseptic treatment during endoscopic sinus surgery on early postoperative outcomes." A doctor was awarded a doctorate for rinsing my sinuses with octenisept, and I, trusting doctors (because who can be trusted more), damaged my sense of smell. Despite such spectacular results, which we read about in the above doctoral dissertation, for some reason the therapy of sinus treatment with the use of octenisept has not been included in medical procedures.
I believe that this publication should not be circulated on the Internet so that no one will dare to rinse their sinuses with this remedy again.

Please answer if the sense of smell has returned.
By the way, why do people smell anything but iso/hypertonic water in the nose or even worse in the sinuses... The remedy you have applied to yourself does not have very flattering opinions outside the pharmaceutical mainstream as a disinfectant, where it is used, let alone for rinsing the sinuses...
