When will the taste disturbances after Saxenda go away?

I have been using Saxenda for several days. For the first two days I had terrible headaches, nausea, belching, tachycardia and terrible drowsiness. It was only when these symptoms subsided that I noticed that I had a disturbed taste. Everything I would not try tastes hideous, so I almost do not eat anything. Can such a symptom last for a long time? Is it possible that the taste will return to normal? Will B vitamins help anything?

Taste disturbances are a common side effect of liraglutide (the active substance in Saxenda). As a rule, part of the side effects passes after 1-2 weeks. However, it is difficult to determine when these types of symptoms may disappear, because they are partly related to the effect of the drug. Liraglutide acts m.in on centers located in the brain that are responsible for regulating appetite, desire to eat, reward center or satiety. When it comes to supplementation with B vitamins, it is justified if their deficiency is actually suspected. However, in such a situation, taste disorders are associated with the drug itself, so the use of B vitamins may not eliminate such a feeling. The taste returns to normal after the body adapts to the drug (as most often other side effects pass) or after discontinuation of the drug. Currently, I have not met with the fact that the use of B vitamins helps patients to eliminate the ailments associated with the drug. Dietary modifications may be helpful in this situation - perhaps other flavors or textures are less "cumbersome" than others. If the taste disorder intensifies or other symptoms have appeared - I encourage you to consult a doctor. There are also other preparations from the same group of drugs available on the market, so if the current therapy hinders your functioning, you may be able to take advantage of other treatment options. By the way, I remind you to regularly change the needles in the pen. Needles can be ordered online using GdziePoLek with home delivery, e.g.: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/48855/igly-do-penow-bd-micro-fine-plus-igla/apteki?pvid=96330#internetowe https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/61649/insupen-igly-do-pen%C3%B3w-pic-indolor-igla/apteki?pvid=256079#internetowe I also leave a link to the text related to the topic: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/blog/nowe-leki-na-otylosc-i-cukrzyce-jak-nie-dac-sie-oszukac
