Can locoid lipocream harm a child? I am at 18 weeks and I have already been using this cream for two weeks as an indication from a dermatologist. Is it a safe cream? I do not use it much, I try to apply the thinnest layers on itchy bubbles

Treatment should be safe if you follow your doctor's instructions using the lowest effective doses of the drug for the time agreed with the dermatologist. Corticosteroids – such as hydrocortisone butyrate from Locoid Lipocream ointment – cross the placental barrier and can therefore act on the fetus. Nevertheless, such effects can be significant when using steroids orally, and in the case of application to the skin - when using potent corticosteroids for a long time. 17-Hydrocortisone butyrate is a moderately potent steroid, applied topically is absorbed through the skin. Therefore, locoid Lipocream should be used with caution during pregnancy. Whether there are clear indications for the use of this preparation in a pregnant woman is decided by the doctor. I enclose additional information about the drug Locoid Lipocream - the preparation can be booked on GdziePoLek and then picked up stationary after presenting a prescription: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/44740/locoid-lipocream-krem/apteki/w-warszawie You may also be interested in our study: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czy-sterydy-sa-bezpieczne
