Food products and taking Oroes Hello! It has been known for a long time that grapefruit should not be consumed when consuming ssri drugs, but I also read that you should also avoid blue cheeses, bananas, figs, avocados, fatty meat, smoked fish, liver. Their consumption in combination with antidepressants can cause circulatory disorders. Is this true? Can these products harm when using Oroes? Thanks in advance for your reply

No, combining Oroes with tyramine-rich products does not affect the effectiveness of therapy and does not lead to cardiovascular disorders. As for products rich in tyramine - avocados, blue cheeses, etc. - here there is no interaction with the drug Oroes. The interaction, called the "cheese effect," involves drugs from another group - monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), to which Oroes does not belong. It is true that dietary fiber reacts with tricyclic antidepressants, causing a decrease in the concentration of the drug in the blood, which consequently weakens the effect of therapy. Rich-fat meals react, e.g. with tricyclic antidepressants, causing an increase in the concentration of the drug and its metabolites in the blood, which leads, among others, to tachycardia, impaired consciousness or a decrease in pressure. This does not mean to remove fats from your daily diet at all. It is enough to limit (not completely eliminate) animal fats and increase the supply of vegetable fat in the diet.
