Depakine is one of the worst drugs! They should withdraw it and this is not only my opinion but also that of my friends! In my childhood I took this drug and it only increased epileptic seizures, and because of it I gained a lot of weight! My parents prescribed me to another doctor who changed medication. For more than 10 years there were no seizures. After giving birth in the hospital, without my knowledge, I started to be given depakine again. History began to repeat itself. Throw away the drug! Do not give it to your child and contact a good neurologist privately! Yours heartily

If you have any doubts about the validity of the therapy, it may be worth consulting another doctor. According to the manufacturer of the drug: "The safety profile of valproate in children and adolescents is comparable to the safety profile in adults, but some side effects are more severe or are observed mainly in children and adolescents. There is a particular risk of serious liver damage in infants and young children, especially under the age of 3 years. Young children are also particularly vulnerable to pancreatitis. These risks decrease with age. Mental disorders such as aggression, agitation, attention disorders, abnormal behavior, attention deficit hyperactivity disorders, and learning disorders are mainly observed in children and adolescents."
