In 2019, I put on the Mirena contraceptive device with a shelf life of 5 years. I've had my period again for a few months now. Is it possible that the insert has stopped working and no longer protects me? Can the returning period be only the result of current stressful experiences? Please help

If 3 years have passed since the insertion of the IUD and the bleeding has only begun now, you should consult a gynecologist to diagnose the source of the problem. If you have experienced sudden changes in your menstrual cycle (e.g. menstrual bleeding is scarce or non-existent, and then suddenly there is persistent bleeding or pain, or heavy bleeding begins) this is the reason to see a doctor. Getting pregnant while using the Mirena system is unlikely, even if there is no menstrual bleeding, its occurrence is not synonymous with a weakening of the IUD.
