Hi I have been using evra patches for 2 years, I am currently on 2 patches in 4 days I stick 3. I have been taking the antibiotic Augmentin for 3 days because of the sinuses, today my partner has finished in me, whether it can affect the effectiveness of contraception and whether there may be a risk of pregnancy. Opinions are divided due to the fact that they are patches and not tablets. Thank you in advance for your reply.

This is a very small probability, but in 100% pregnancy can not be excluded.
So there is a small risk of pregnancy? Thank you for your answer for sure I will already use additional contraception.

Some antibiotics affect the effectiveness of hormonal contraception, both when used in tablets and patches. The ineffectiveness of the contraceptive effect of Evra patches has been described when taking antibiotics such as ampicillin or tetracycline at the same time as ampicillin, Augmentin contains amoxicillin, an antibiotic from the same group as ampicillin - studies have not been confirmed, but for the duration of taking the antibiotic and 7 days after it, an additional, mechanical form of contraception should be used, e.g. in the form of a condom. In the case described, there is a small probability that the effect of the patch has been impaired.
