Up to @Adam:

Drugs containing sucralfate are currently not available in Poland because they have been withdrawn from the market by manufacturers. The exact reasons for this step are not clearly defined, but it can be assumed that they are due to the low profitability of the production of these drugs and the availability of newer therapies for the treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Sucralfate was used as a protective drug to treat gastric and duodenal ulcers, forming a protective layer on the mucous membrane of the digestive tract. However, in recent years, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) and drugs from the group of H2 receptor antagonists have been used more and more often, which more effectively inhibit the secretion of gastric acid and treat the causes of ulcers.

The withdrawal of drugs with sucralfate from the Polish market may also be associated with their potential side effects, such as constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting or osteoporosis with long-term use. Newer therapies have a more favorable safety profile.

Why has it been impossible to buy drugs with this substance for several years?

Currently, no drug with sucralfate is available, but I encourage you to follow the following link: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/substancje/sucralfate and to sign up for notifications about the drug Ulgastran - perhaps it will appear on sale: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/80446/ulgastran-zawiesina/apteki/#news

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
