Only some oral contraceptives containing high doses of ethinylestradiol showed a significant increase in prolactin levels. According to one of the available sources, oral contraceptive pills containing ethinylestradiol at a dose of 35 micrograms can increase the concentration of prolactin in 20-30% of cases. Vixpo is a product containing a low (the lowest possible of the commercially available) dose of ethinylestradiol - 20 micrograms. From the Polaring system - due to the absorption of hormones directly into the blood - the daily dose of ethinyl estradiol released from the disc is even lower and amounts to 15 micrograms.
