Can Ryeqo be used to reduce uterine fibroids if Esmya is not available?

Good morning Does Ryeqo work similarly to Esmya? I mean mainly to reduce the size of fibroids. I have large fibroids and I would like to try to reduce them before surgery to increase the chance of saving the uterus. Unfortunately, Esmya is not available in Poland. Does the new drug Ryeqo also have similar effects? Please reply.

Ryeqo and Esmya contain other active substances with different mechanisms of action. Nevertheless, for both drugs, the indication for use is the same, that is, the treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of uterine fibroids in adult women of childbearing age. Ryeqo is a ternary drug. This medicine is used to treat fibroids to stop or reduce bleeding and to reduce the pain and discomfort of the lower abdomen associated with uterine fibroids. This is not a typical drug that reduces the size of fibroids. Esmya is used either before the procedure to remove fibroids or for long-term treatment of fibroids, to reduce their size, stop or reduce bleeding and to increase the number of red blood cells. Thus, Ryeqo is used to treat the symptoms of uterine fibroids, and Esmya to reduce the size of the fibroid. Studies show, however, that Ryeqo may reduce the size of fibroids, but to a lesser extent than Esmya. Unfortunately, as you rightly pointed out, Esmya is not available in pharmacies in Poland: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/27627/esmya-tabletki/apteki
