In this case, I suggest discontinuing the drug and contacting the attending physician. Nasonex is an intranasal aerosol containing mometasone furoate, a substance classified as glucocorticosteroids. It rarely happens that this substance leads to an increase in intraocular pressure, which may result in eye pain, visual disturbance or the occurrence of the so-called halo effect, manifested by seeing the glow around objects. This is an indication to stop using this substance and its derivatives. The mentioned itching of the hands is not the result of the use of Nasonex aerosol and may be one of the symptoms of allergies. It is worth mentioning this symptom during a visit to the attending physician. For my part, I would like to add that the intranasal form of administration of steroid substances is an effective and at the same time safe form. The basic indication for the use of this substance is allergic rhinitis. However, the safety of use is associated with the need for proper application of this form of the drug. It is very important that the tip of the spray is not directed at the nasal septum. Administration of the drug to the nasal septum is the most common cause of side effects, i.e. headaches, eyes, nosebleeds.
