What is the cause of increased appetite after antidepressants? How to deal with it?

I have been taking Brintellix 10 mg for several months, this is my next antidepressant. I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety neuroses. Since I take medication, I have uncontrollable appetite attacks in the evenings. I gained about 10 kg because of it. This is certainly related to antidepressants, because when I had a short break from medication I did not have such seizures. What can help me? Do I have such an appetite due to the increase in serotonin in the evening?

The exact cause of increased appetite when using antidepressants is not known. We wrote about what the causes of weight gain during their use may be in another thread: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/opinie-i-pytania/47745/asertin-dlaczego-leki-przeciwdepresyjne-powoduja-wzrost-masy-ciala In the case of appetite attacks, it may be helpful to drink an infusion of mint, which reduces the desire to eat. It can also be helpful to "cheat hunger" by taking fiber, which swells under the influence of water and gives a sense of satiety (remember about the necessary interval of 3-4 hours between the consumption of the drug and fiber). We wrote more about ways to suppress appetite in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/preparaty-hamujace-apetyt
