Will such an expensive patch heal the pain after nerve damage by shingles?

4 year I have attacks of acute pain above the left side waist. Diagnosed nerve damage by shingles. After pharmacological treatment and in the pain clinic / twice treatment with electricity / did not result in a cure. I also applied patches of various kinds to no avail. Will such an expensively priced patch cure this ailment?

You did not write the name of the medicine, but as for the tagged Qutenza, please read on. Qutenza contains capsaicin, which causes pain receptors in the skin to become less sensitive to various stimuli. This can be described as a form of "anesthesia" and it is believed that this effect is responsible for the disappearance of pain. At the same time, the skin should remain sensitive to mechanical and vibrational stimuli. The changes that capsaicin causes are reversible, which means that the drug does not offer a permanent cure for the pain and will not be able to trigger the regeneration of the damaged nerve. The effect of the patch lasts on average for three months (according to some sources longer). The onset of action may not be immediate.
