A new replacement for Alfadiol called Alfacalcidol Softgel is available in pharmacies. The drug can be booked at the selected pharmacy on the attached page: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/118461/alfacalcidol-softgel-kapsulki/apteki

As our statistics show, the drug Decostriol is slowly appearing in pharmacies. This medicine contains calcitriol, a substance to which alfacalcidol (the active substance in Alphadiol) is converted in the liver. Thus, it cannot be treated as a strict replacement for Alfadiol. Before changing the method of treatment, it will be necessary to consult a doctor and a new prescription. However, this drug has a very similar effect (practically identical) and indications for use as Alfadiol and can be used in a situation where Alfadiol is not available. Decostriol is available in doses of 0.25 mcg and 0.5 mcg: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/117892/decostriol-kapsulki/apteki

Due to the lack of access to Alfadiol, the Minister of Health gave permission to import a substitute for this drug as part of intervention imports. The drug is listed under the trade name Alpha D3 and already appears in pharmacies in Poland: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/117887/alpha-d3-kapsulki/apteki

Alfadiol still has a number of pharmacies integrated with GdziePoLek. I encourage you to follow the link with availability: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/3306/alfadiol-kapsulki/apteki/w-warszawie Currently, no substitute for Alfadiol is available and we have no information whether such a product will appear in pharmacies at all. Several drugs with alfacalcidol have been registered, but only Alfacalcidol ELC (ELC Group) has a valid registration. However, Alfacalcidol IF (Pharmaceutical Institute) and One-Alpha (Leo) have been deleted from the register, so these drugs are unlikely to be counted on anymore. I have sent an inquiry to ELC Group about plans to distribute the drug to the Polish market - if there is a response, I will post it in this thread and a notification will be added next to the product Alfadiol - I encourage you to sign up. There is also a possibility that some substitute for Alfadiol will be brought to Polish as part of intervention imports: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/import-interwencyjny-jakie-leki-sprowadzane-sa-z-zagranicy Negotiations on such imports, however, take place between the pharmaceutical wholesaler and the Ministry of Health, we have no influence on whether they will be undertaken. However, if such an equivalent appears in pharmacies integrated with GdziePoLek, we will certainly inform patients about it. We received information from GSK that Alfadiol has been removed from the manufacturer's portfolio and will no longer be available in pharmacies. GSK does not inform about distribution plans in other countries, the answer seems to apply to the entire market.

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
