To @Oliwia: excuse me, in response I meant azithromycin, which in the cited article is mentioned along with clarithromycin among antibiotics that do not affect the effectiveness of contraception. In conclusion, in the described situation, the effectiveness of contraception, provided that the contraceptive pills were taken as prescribed, remains unchanged.

To @Oliwia, the results of a study published in 2002 in the renowned Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology proved that clarithromycin contained in Macromax does not affect the effectiveness of contraceptive pills. The use of an additional method of contraception (including emergency contraception) is not required during treatment with Macromax.

There is no justification for reusing Escapelle in the situation described in the question. If you have taken an Escapelle tablet within 2 hours of intercourse, re-using the medicine after a few days will not increase its effectiveness in preventing pregnancy. You do not mention what specific antibiotic you used. It is worth being aware that in the case of only a few antibiotics, their negative impact on the effectiveness of contraception has been proven in scientific studies. Most commonly used antibiotics do not affect the effectiveness of birth control pills.
