If I am allergic to iodine, can I use another drug instead of cordarone? I read in the leaflet that people who are allergic to iodine should not use this medicine.

Indeed, the Cordarone dossier contains a warning that if you are allergic to iodine, amiodarone (the active ingredient in Cordarone) or any of the other ingredients, you should not take it. The above warning about iodine is due to the fact that the amiodarone molecule is rich in iodine - it constitutes as much as 37% of the molecular weight. Amiodarone in the body is subject to partial deiodination, which provides a large amount of iodine per day. Amiodarone is an antiarrhythmic drug - you should talk to your cardiologist about an alternative treatment. A molecule similar to amiodarone, but devoid of iodine atoms, is dronedarone. However, it is difficult for me to answer whether this would be the right choice in your individual case: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/substancje/dronedarone https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/leki-na-arytmie
