The time after which the concentration of bisoprolol (the active ingredient of Bisocard) drops by half is 10 - 12 hours, but before this concentration begins to decrease, there is first a period in which the drug is mainly absorbed and its concentration increases until a certain maximum is reached. After that, the elimination processes gain the upper hand and the concentration of the drug decreases. Generally, patients who take bisoprolol chronically must take it once a day for the effect to continue.
