Siofor is a one-component drug - it contains metformin. Xigduo is a two-component drug - in addition to metformin, it also contains dapagliflozin. Both components of Xigduo work through different mechanisms to enhance the effect of lowering elevated blood glucose levels. The doctor, based on the results of measuring blood sugar, most likely concluded that glycemia is uncontrolled or insufficiently controlled, hence the proposal to change the drug. In this situation, in my opinion, it is necessary to adapt to the choice of a diabetologist and change the drug, since the lack of intensification of treatment can have dangerous consequences for health. If the potential side effects are in doubt, they do not have to occur. If this happens, you can always return to the topic of choosing another drug.
