The Minister of Health gave permission to import a substitute for the drug Atenolol as part of the intervention import procedure. The drug is available under the trade name Atenolol Sopharma: Atenolol Sopharma 25 mg, 30 tablets: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/117736/atenolol-sopharma-tabletki-powlekane/apteki?pvid=275648 Atenolol Sopharma 50 mg, 30 tablets: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/117736/atenolol-sopharma-tabletki-powlekane/apteki?pvid=275649 Patients who have a prescription for Sanofi Atenolol will be able to buy an imported substitute at the pharmacy on its basis.

According to the information from the manufacturer, the sale of the drug Atenolol Sanofi was completed in March 2022 and no new deliveries are expected. Since the preparation does not have an available substitute, it is necessary to change the method of treatment. The drug Propranolol is not a chemical replacement for Atenolol, so the pharmacist can not make such a replacement in the pharmacy. However, Propranolol and Atenolol belong to the same group of beta-blockers. They lead to a decrease in the frequency of the heart rhythm and the strength of its contraction and to a decrease in elevated blood pressure. Thus, the effects of therapy should be equivalent. Your primary care physician has the richest knowledge of your current health and medical records, so he or she is competent to change your medication and guide you through the entire treatment process.
