The use of fluconazole contained in Flucofast does not impair the effectiveness of contraceptive pills. However, fluconazole may inhibit enzymes involved in the metabolism of estrogens, which are components of combined contraceptive pills, which may lead to an increase in their concentration in the blood, which in turn may result in an increase in the side effects of contraceptive pills, such as nausea or breast soreness. In the case when the drug is used prophylactically, once a week, the probability of developing this type of symptoms, however, is relatively small. So, there are no contraindications to the use of the drug when taking contraceptive pills.
