Hello. I have grade 2 diabetes. I am allergic to metformin. Other prescribed medications caused many side effects. Eventually, the doctor ordered to stop the tablets and prescribed Ozempic injection 1 time per week. Is this enough of the drug to fight diabetes?

In response to the great interest of patients, a non-reimbursed drug Ozempic from parallel imports appeared in pharmacies. The availability of the drug in pharmacies can be checked here: Ozempic 0.5 mg https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/99258/ozempic-iniekcja/apteki?pvid=275329 Ozempic 1 mg https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/99258/ozempic-iniekcja/apteki?pvid=275351

Ozempic is given by injection under the skin once a week. Initially, the dose is low (0.25 mg), then it is increased gradually to 0.5 mg and even 1 mg - depending on whether blood sugar control has been achieved. However, the drug is still used once a week. The properties of semaglutide (the active ingredient in Ozempic) mean that it is slowly excreted by the kidneys and protected from metabolic breakdown. Therefore, it is characterized by an extended half-life of about 1 week and thanks to this it is possible to administer the drug in such a rare way.
