I am NOT a doctor but I will speak about my case (maybe someone will help). 34 years from the age of 17, I was diagnosed with reflux disease. Very often I felt pain, burning, and tightness in the chest (I thought it was a heart attack). Over time, medication and panic attacks came. Then I started taking medication for depression (I don't have depression but they help with anxiety). I stopped coffee and alcohol. Stomach problems are gone. For some time I have returned to drinking coffee and alcohol (beer) stomach problems have returned. I went to the doctor assigned me dexilant. While taking this drug I noticed that the feeling of burning and heartburn disappeared but there were other types of abdominal pain and dizziness. I discontinued and returned to this drug several times in different time intervals. Each time the heartburn disappeared, but stomach ache and dizziness returned at different frequencies and times. After stopping coffee, limiting cigarettes and finishing with beer (with a better diet), everything disappeared. Not immediately but over time gradually (for me after a month). I will also add that stress, supports (in my case all ailments). Ps. From what I noticed, 90% of people I know and have fears / panic attacks also have reflux.

The drug can be used for up to several months, but this procedure carries the risk of hypomagnesemia (lowering the level of magnesium in the blood), and consequently also reduce the level of calcium and potassium. According to the manufacturer: "Patients treated with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), such as dexlansoprazole, for at least three months and most patients taking PPI for one year rarely had cases of severe hypomagnesaemia. Severe symptoms of hypomagnesaemia such as fatigue, tetany, delirium, convulsions, dizziness and ventricular arrhythmias may occur, but they may start unnoticed and go unnoticed." Therefore, if you intend to use the drug for more than 3 months, it is worth regularly checking the level of magnesium, calcium and potassium in the blood.
