Good morning. I have severe depression. I was diagnosed with Crohn's spread to other organs and neuroendocrine cancer. And the symptoms of carcinoid, high Chromogranin A. Prescribed I have Prefaxine. I have severe anxiety and depression. Do you risk taking the drug because of serotonin syndrome?

The risk of serotonin syndrome symptoms increases in patients using, m.in, MAOIs (e.g. moclobemide, selegiline, rasagiline), triptans or antidepressants from the SSRI group, SNRIs (more about this type of drugs can be read here: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/leki-na-depresje). If you do not take the above-mentioned medications and you take the drug according to the schedule established by your doctor, the risk of developing symptoms of serotonin syndrome is low.
