In order to prevent pregnancy, EllaOne should be taken as soon as possible after intercourse, within a maximum of 5 days (120 hours) - that is, yes, a tablet taken 56 hours after intercourse will work. EllaOne contains ulipristal acetate, which affects the activity of the hormone progesterone, causing a delay in ovulation and thus preventing fertilization.
