Has Elvanse been available in wholesalers lately?
Good morning, Recently in Poland (May and June 2022) several packages of Elvanse were sold. In view of the above, I have a few questions. Is Elvanse still available in wholesalers? Is it known in which? In which pharmacies was the drug available? What does the cost of the drug depend on? The statistics mention PLN 445 or PLN 865.99. Thank you in advance for your help.

The problem is that some provincial consultants (e.g. Lublin) reject the demand, arguing that this drug is authorized for marketing through mutual recognition in the EU. Although the letter of the law speaks of import without the need to obtain a permit, it does not say that such a permit cancels the possibility of targeted import. Recently, a doctor from Lublin rejected a demand for one of my patients. So what does it look like in the end? If the drug is formally authorized, then the doctor should not take responsibility either, right?

I received information from a Takeda sales specialist that the company does not sell Elvanse to the Polish market. However, the drug can be ordered for a specific patient in the target import mode. Target import consists in importing products from abroad that are not approved for marketing in Poland, but are necessary to save the patient's life or health. The first step is for the treating physician to issue a demand. As a patient, you can take the initiative for such a path of therapy, however, the final decision always belongs to a specialist. It is worth mentioning that when ordering a product that is not approved in Poland, the doctor assumes full responsibility for the treatment. Hence the big differences in price.
