Is 4 tablets of Contrahist 5 mg per day not too high a dose for a 15-year-old child weighing 57 kg?

Good morning. The daughter after eating strawberries got urticaria, so the doctor. The doctor prescribed an injection of dexaven 8 mg and contrahist l 2 times a day for 2 tablets for 3 days, then 2 tablets once a day and then after three days 1 time a day. My question is whether not too much and not too often these drugs? Daughter weighs 57 kg is 15 years old

In case of an acute allergic reaction, up to 32 mg of Dexaven is usually used. For a child weighing 57 kg, the dose of 8 mg of Dexaven will not be exceeded - this is the right dosage. In the case of Contrahist, the dosage presented is actually somewhat questionable. Usually, 5 mg of the drug is used once a day - in the case of your daughter, the doctor recommended 20 mg for the first 3 days, then reducing the dose to 10 mg. This way of proceeding significantly increases the risk of side effects, such as drowsiness, weakness, headache and dizziness. Therefore, it would be worthwhile, for example, to consult a pediatrician who will consult the current state of health of the daughter and decide whether this dosage of the drug is safe.
