Good morning. I have to take the drug diemono in connection with heavy menstruation that is caused by myoma, but I read in the leaflet that this drug is used to treat endometriosis. Should I still take it?

Indeed, Diemono is used to treat endometriosis, but this does not mean that your doctor could not recommend it in another disease entity to the best of his knowledge and experience if he thinks you can benefit. In the case of dienogest (the active ingredient of Diemono tablets), a beneficial effect on the size of uterine fibroids has been found, it also causes a reduction in endometrium - it may therefore be an option before the surgical removal of fibroids. However, according to the information about this drug: "Uterine bleeding, for example, in women with a disease in which the endometrium grows into the layer of the uterine muscles, called uterine adenomatosis, or benign uterine tumors, sometimes called uterine fibroids, may get worse while taking Diemono." Changes in the bleeding profile such as spotting, irregular bleeding or amenorrhea may also occur when using Diemono. If you have any doubts about how to treat myoma and the ailments caused by it, it is best to contact the same or another gynecologist. The decision whether and what preparation you should take is the competence of the doctor familiar with your medical documentation.
