No, Glucophage XR and Adeksa are not the same medicine. Glucophage XR is an oral antidiabetic drug used to treat type 2 diabetes in adults. The active substance is metformin, which reduces the production of glucose in the liver, increases insulin sensitivity in the muscles and delays the absorption of glucose in the intestine. Adeksa is also an oral antidiabetic drug used in patients with type 2 diabetes. However, it contains another active substance - acarbose, which works by delaying the digestion of sugars in the intestines, which causes a slow absorption of glucose and a decrease in its concentration in the blood after meals. As a result, fluctuations in glucose and glycemic concentration are reduced. User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
